The Roots

Horticultural Holiday began in the 1970's as an environmental eatery on the Sunset Strip, Hollywood, California. Kathleen and Timothy Hudson created the restaurant with gourmet tastebuds and a passion for atmospheric beauty. Kathleen's stained glass windows and love for horticulture adorned the inside and surrounded the brick laid garden patio. Kathleen eventually segwayed into becoming a Professor of Horticulture, leaving a green print since childhood onto her daughter River and best friend Regina. This experience inspired the two girls a love for gardening and the desire to keep their heads amongst the flowers.  

In the field, we are River Hudson and Regina Carter, garden designers based in Palm Springs, California. Horticultural Holiday is a boutique garden company specializing in garden design, installation, and maintenance. We create wild, romantic and joyful gardens for private clients and commercial spaces throughout the Coachella Valley. It is our hope to elevate viewers senses and lift architectural exterior spaces with natural beauty. 

Outside of the field we have a passion for the art of fashion. We wear our own designs (Hudson|Carter) mixed with other independent designers who we admire from the bottom up. We are honored to offer a few of these designers on our online garden inspired shop. Our services extend to garden furnishings and pots for commercial and residential spaces, giving us the opportunity to create the garden viewing and foreground, resonating the beauty from all around! As designers, we believe a Horticultural Holiday lifestyle is a sensory experience consisting in a life of beauty through atmosphere, created through the cohesive details, felt through the power of design!
